Hey DeviantArt, it's been a while!
A few years, in fact. After a long time, I've decided to update and use my DA page again.
Firstly, I want to thank my friend
for generously giving me a deviantart membership for christmas!
I think now is probably a good time to explain what/where I have been this whole time and why I decided to step away from DeviantArt.
For the past couple of years I've been working as a freelance artist under my own business name here in Perth. I've also been teaching digital art, drawing and concept art classes at various technical colleges and universities. I currently work at SAE Institute in Perth as part of their Games and Animation section teaching Drawing Fundamentals.
As for design work, I've worked with various people mainly creating illustrations and concept art for mobile games, museum displays and even giant interactive touch-screen science games!
Being a teacher is great. I've had some awesome groups of students over the years and its been fun to work with them and see them improve. It's also helped me really refine my knowledge and become a more confident person in general (before I was a teacher I was a nervous public speaker!). The only downside is that it's quite time-consuming and I found that I had severely less time to work on my personal artwork. Most of the artwork I did/do now is for work, which I think is a really exciting thing although some of it I couldn't show because it belongs to someone else or is/was in-production!
At the beginning of this, I decided to step away from DA to focus on my career, which I did and it worked out well. Instead of DeviantArt, over the years I've been submitting work to my website and Facebook page. Now, I'll be using this page to share my current projects as well as personal projects. Along with updatign this DeviantArt page, I've made various websites for my art:Website: lauren-fletcher.com/ Facebook: www.facebook.com/LaurenFletche… tumblr: laurenfletcherdesign.tumblr.co… Pinterest: www.pinterest.com/lfletcherdes…
I doubt any of my old followers are actually still following, but I want to say thank you for the time I did have on here when I was younger. DeviantArt was a lot of fun and got me excited about creating art and helped me decide it was something I wanted to do professionally! I hope you and new visitors enjoy my new work as I continue to upload.
Happy New Year!
